The Giro Rodeo is a great helmet for children who have just started riding a bike on their own, generally around age 3 and up. It is light, comfortable, well vented, and most important comes in lots of bright colors so your child will want to wear it.

The Rodeo uses Giro’s Acu Dial system, which makes adjusting the helmet’s fit around your child’s head quick and easy. The chin strap is held in place with cam-lock levers, which pop open for easy adjustment, then snap back closed and don’t slip. You’ll only have to adjust the strap once. The helmet is shaped like a visor in front, so there is no separate visor to get broken or lost.

All Giro helmets are CPSC certified, which means they pass the industry standard tests for safety.

The Rodeo helmet sizing is called “Universal Youth”, which means it comes in one size that can adjust to comfortably fit a big range of head sizes. The Rodeo fits heads from 19.75” (50cm) around up to 21.75” (55cm). The Rodeo and Flume helmets overlap in fit. If your child is young and near the bottom of the range of head sizes that these two helmets fit, we recommend the Rodeo since it is slightly lighter. If your child is in the middle or upper part of the Rodeo’s fit range or is an active rider, we recommend the Flume, since it fits larger heads (more growth room) and is somewhat better ventilated.
