Old Man Mountain Red Rock rear rack

The Red Rock is Old Man Mountain’s rear rack for standard (non-suspended) bike frames. It comes in one size that fits almost all bikes with 700c or 26” wheels. It is the toughest Old Man Mountain rack, with a weight capacity of 60 pounds. It weighs 600 grams. It mounts to eyelets on your bike frame’s rear dropouts (near the rear wheel axle), and to the fixing bolts on the bike’s rear cantilever or v-brake calipers. If your bike does not have cantilevers or v-brakes, you will need J-clamps of the appropriate size to clamp around the frame’s seatstays, and these J-clamps are not included with the rack. If your bike does not have eyelets on the rear dropout, the Cold Springs rear rack is a better choice.

The Red Rock rack measures 15.25” long by 5” wide and is 14.25” tall. 15.25” is particularly long for a rear rack, so the Red Rock has plenty of room on the top deck for large rack-top bags, and allows you to mount panniers far back if you need extra heel clearance. It is constructed of hollow aluminum tubing for the struts, and plate aluminum for the top deck and side attachment points. The aluminum is 6061-T6 alloy for strength, anodized black for looks. Note: Old Man Mountain racks, and any other racks constructed of steel or aluminum tube stock, are not compatible with child seats, Wald baskets, or any other accessories that use clamps tightened by nuts and bolts to attach to the rack. The clamps will crush the tube stock. For this type of accessory, use racks made with solid aluminum rod such as Blackburn racks.
